Syncing Garmin with GoChallenge

Learn how to connect your Garmin device directly to the GoChallenge app

Updated over 2 months ago

GoChallenge now connects directly to Garmin — no need for Apple Health or Google Fit. All you need is the Garmin Connect app and your Garmin device paired.

1. What you need before you begin

  • A Garmin device paired with the Garmin Connect app (iOS or Android)

  • The GoChallenge app installed on your phone

  • An active GoChallenge account

2. Connect Garmin to GoChallenge

  1. Open the GoChallenge app on your phone

  2. Log in, and when prompted, select Garmin from the list of trackers

  3. You’ll be redirected to a Garmin Connect login screen

  4. Sign in with your Garmin account

  5. Approve the requested permissions, click Save.

  6. Read the Garmin terms and conditions, click Agree.

✅ Make sure you allow Activities and Daily Health Stats — both are essential for GoChallenge to track your activity correctly.

3. Confirm Your Garmin Connection

Once permissions are granted:

  • You’ll return to the GoChallenge app

  • Garmin should now appear as your active tracker

  • Your steps and distance will sync automatically

Garmin syncing: Garmin sends data back to GoChallenge every 15 minutes. If your activity isn't showing in the GoChallenge app, this might be why.

4. Need to Troubleshoot?

If your Garmin data isn’t appearing in GoChallenge:

  • Open Garmin Connect to trigger a fresh sync

  • In GoChallenge, swipe down on the home screen to refresh

  • Double-check that Garmin is listed as your active tracker (there's a notification in the top left corner of the GoChallenge homescreen)

  • If needed, disconnect Garmin from GoChallenge and reconnect. Go to Settings > Manage Tracker > Garmin > Disconnect Tracker
